Baranagay
Libertad has 537 hectare which 62.77% is non-agricultural area and 37.13% is
devoted to crop livestock production. This agricultural area are utilized for
crop production and divided according to its uses. Rice is the major crop
planted in the barangay followed by coconut. Generally the farmers are
practicing mono-cropping system of farming.
The
barangay is considered typhoon free having an evenly distributed rainfall
throughout the year. Heavy rain comes only during the month of May, June, and July. Dry season stars from
the month of October to April.
Human Development
Health
related services, facilities and common illness
Most
of the residents (98%) had water toilets and they stay at permanent,
semi-permanent and temporary types of houses.
The
barangay has its own health center with several instruments used for minor
surgical and clinical practices. The center rendered services on periodic
immunization, operation tuli, pre and post natal, tuberculosis program, mother
class, control of diarrhea, family planning and environmental sanitation.
The
nutritional status of children reveals that there are 3rd degree
malnourished children in the barangay (8.5%).
The common illness are cough, fever and colds that hit throughout the year. Headache, skin infection and dengue fever hit the barangay during the onset of the rainy season while the rest are on a seasonal basis.
Religious
affiliation
Of
the 15,576 residents, 76.72% belong to the Roman Catholics, 4.40% Baptist,
2.20% 7th day Adventist, 1.32% Jehovah’s Witness, 3.75 Alliance,
4.16% Iglesia ni Kristo, 2.47%Aglipay,o.58% UCCP and 4.39% others.
Ethnic Origin
Barangay
Libertad has atotal population of 15,576 dominated by Ilonggo tribe. Other
tribes residing in the barangay are Antiquino,Cebuano, leyteno, tagalong,
bicolano, Ilocano, boholano and others.
